PBIS Rewards

What is PBIS Rewards?

PBIS Rewards is an online system that allows teachers and staff at WCMS to reward students with points for demonstrating positive behavior within the school setting.  One of the great aspects about this program is that it also allows students and parents to track points earned at school.  This reward system is part of our school’s PBIS framework to help foster academic and behavioral success.

Studies show that having a school wide acknowledgement system, such as PBIS Rewards, increases the likelihood that students’ positive behaviors will be repeated. This not only focuses staff and students’ attention on desired behaviors, it also helps build a more positive school climate, which in turn supports increased student learning.  Studies also show that students who are recognized for demonstrating positive behavior at a ratio of 6:1, in relation to negative behavior, are more likely to internalize and repeat those desired behaviors.  For this reason, we try to catch our students being good as much as possible.  Students who receive points through PBIS Rewards are able to redeem their earnings for special prizes and incentives each month at our Minihune Market.

If you have any questions or would like more information about how you can help support the PBIS Rewards program at WCMS, please contact our vice principal, Joseph Hedstrom: 338-6830 ext. 103 or email [email protected]
